This article covers important information regarding the switch to the latest version of Clash Detection within your CONNECT and ProjectWise 365 projects.
Clash Detection Version 1 is currently the only supported version in your CONNECT and ProjectWise 365 projects. We encourage you to enhance your capabilities by upgrading to the latest version of Clash Detection, which offers significant improvements and new features such as Clash Clusters and Forms Integration.
The upgrade will follow a single direction per project. You cannot revert the projects to Clash Detection Version 1 once the switch has been made. Existing clash tests under Version 1 will remain accessible, but new tests must be created using the updated user interface in the latest Version. Clash tests and Suppression rules will also be regenerated in the latest Clash interface.
This opt-in switch is estimated to be available starting in June 2024. New Connect/PW 365 Projects from 15th June will automatically be switched to the new version of Clash Detection. The Design Validation Service will be Read-only from 12th July and remain available until 30th August. After that it will be removed from the Bentley Portals.
The upgrade is irreversible once new clash tests are created and run. As a result of the upgrade, you can expect a different user experience in the latest version of Clash Detection Version 2.0. Manual suppression comments in Clash Version 1.0 will not be transferred to the new Clash 2.0 service.
The opt-in upgrade is available only in the iModel Viewer Toolbar for enterprise project administrator roles. For standard users, a learn more option is available. A dialogue message clearly explains the upgrade process.
Additionally, a dismissible pop-up notification will notify all project users when the iModel Viewer is loaded that the project has been switched to the new version of Clash Detection.
Please note that certain features in Design Validation will be disabled. (e.g., Create Clash Detection, Edit Clash Detection) and the Design Validation Frontend will display an upgrade message.
The results from Clash V1.0 remain accessible in Design Validation.
Suggested Path:
We encourage you to switch to a test project to evaluate the switching process before operating this on a live project.
As mentioned above, the switch is irreversible once new clash tests are created and run. Existing Manual Suppression will be transferred to the new results in the latest Clash detection service once each Clash Test/Job has been run for the first time. The results in Design Validation will still be accessible but can no longer be visualized in the iModel Viewer.
If you encounter any problems during switching, please contact Noel Gonzalez-Jones or Paul Johnson.
