Info tool

The Map Layers info tool is an extension to the Map Layers widget. It allows you to fully benefit from the ArcGIS Map layers and Feature layers attached in the view, by allowing direct access to the features' properties.

When an ArcGIS Map layer or a Feature layer is attached to the view, the Map Layers Info tool appears in the tool bar on the left hand side. You can select the tool and click on the geometry you want to access the properties. This tool works only with ArcGIS layers.

Attach your layers to the Map Layers widget.

Click on the Map Layers Info tool and select a geometry.

The geometry is highlighted in light blue and the properties are displayed on the right, in the Map Layers Info panel.

The properties panel displays a single feature at a time.

Point and line feature types:

If you are at a higher zoom level, your datapoint may hit more than one geometry. When the data point hits polygons or lines, the value "***varies***" will be displayed because the tool has not been able to return any property. You must zoom in and select a single feature.

Point feature type

If the data point hits multiple point features, a cluster is displayed, showing the number of features selected and a tooltip suggesting zooming in for more granularity.

Limitations

When the Cesium Terrain is enabled in the view, the geometry selection may not be good. You may see the highlighted geometry shifted compared to the real geometry. Because of this we suggest that you disable the Cesium Terrain when using the Map Layers Info tool.

When the view contains multiple Feature layers, it may become difficult to select the specific geometry you are looking for. If it doesn't work, try to move the layer on the top of the view by dragging it up in the list (see Reorder the layers) and try again.

If the problem persists, you can choose to attach the equivalent Map Service layer if available. If you choose to do so, make sure the capability "Query" is enabled in your Map Service. For more information about it, please contact your Esri administrator.
