ArcGIS FeatureService Support

The Map Layers widget has added the support of a new GIS data type, ESRI ArcGIS FeatureService. This type of format is very common in the GIS world. The ArcGIS FeatureService often contains sub-layers. In this specific case, our UI allows selecting the layers you want to see displayed in the viewer.

A new format "ArcGISFeature" is listed in the Type drop-down list. This new option is a tech preview:

 

Once the type is selected, enter a name, and paste the URL pointing to the ArcGIS FeatureService.  Click Add.

If the layer contains a single feature, it will automatically be attached to the view. If it contains sub-features like in the dialog below, select the sub-features you want to attach. At least one feature must be selected to enable the Add button.

Select the features by checking the checkbox. Use the "Select All" button to select all features or "Select None" to unselect all features in one click. Use the "Search" field to filter the features.

Once the selection is complete, click Add. The selected features will be attached and displayed in the viewer. The selected features will be listed in the Map Layers widget. The connection name you defined in the first step is automatically added as a prefix to help identify the layers in the list. In the example below, the name of the connection is "exton area".

Detach selected Map Layers

You can use this tool to detach the selected Map Layers in the list. As soon as you select a layer, the check box is checked ON and the detach tool is enabled. Clicking on the tool will detach the selected layer(s). You can select or deselect all layers in one click, by checking/unchecking the toggle.

Map Layers Visibility tools

You can manage the layers' visibility by using the visibility icons.

Clicking on the Show All icon will turn on the visibility of all layers at once.

Clicking on the Invert Visibility icon will invert the visibility of all layers.

Clicking on the Hide All icon will turn off the visibility of all layers at once.

 

Options menu

When the mouse overs on a layer, the Options menu appears at the right-hand side of the layer name, allowing to access more options.

Zoom to layer: Fits the selected layer in the view.

Detach: Detaches the selected layer from the view.

Transparency slider: Moving the slider changes the transparency of the selected layer. The transparency is applied on the layer once the data button is released.

 

Scale Ranges

Very often, scale ranges are defined on the GIS layers to better control the display of the layers. This means that at a certain scale, the layer is not visible in the view. This is defined in the ArcGIS server. When a layer is out of the scale range in the viewer, the layer is identified with a lighter font color. For example, in the example below, the BuildingFootprints and Proposed_Land_Development are out of scale range. Notice the difference with the other layers in the list:
