Onboarding Plan Session Three - Data Model

Data Model

The data model in OpenGround is set by the config pack, you can find the config pack when you are looking at the list of projects.

The config pack has the heart of what you see within a project from the fields you see to the reports available and a lot more.

If you want to know the kinds of reports you can expect in your standard config please look at the config pack guides.

Top Tip: if you don't see this in your interface check with anyone else who is a system admin or check with the person who set up the cloud for you.

Manage Model

If you want to know what data you can store in OpenGround as a database you will find everything that you can store in the Manage model interface.

Top tip - you will need to click on the config pack you want to look at before you will be able to use the top ribbon buttons.

Under the manage model interface, you will find every data table which can be on a project. These include things you will see in the project and some which are currently switched off.

If you are looking for how to enter something you don't see in your project think "config pack" and check here to see if something already exists and simply needs to be switched on.

The interface is split between the table name on the left, whether that table is active, and if it's a custom table.

Reviewing Fields of Data

If once you have looked over the fields, within those tables. This is not reviewing the fields for a data entry grid. If you click on Edit when you select a group/table you will see the edit group interface.

This interface has all fields (headers) for the selected table. The example below is the Location details group.

This interface has a lot of information on it which are not going to be covered in this guide. The key takeaway is that if you are looking for a field for your data in Professional, look here first before looking to add something new.

You will see different types of data which can be stored sometimes. This needs to be considered if you are looking for a picklist field when you only have a string (normal text fields).
