Template Studio Ribbon


Ribbons

At the top of the Template Designer Interface there are three Ribbons: System, Design, and Help.

 

System

The System ribbon is grouped into three panels - Sources, Manage and Settings.
 
File:

Projects – Connect to a different OpenGround Cloud project.

Templates Open a different template.

 

Manage:

Images Adjust the static images assigned to the template, these typically being company logos.  Note: this feature is duplicated in OpenGround Professional; changes made in one application will be reflected in the other.

Point Symbols - Import and view the current point symbols as defined in the current project/configuration pack.  Note: this feature is duplicated in OpenGround Professional; changes made in one application will be reflected in the other.

Expression LibraryRecall, store or edit Template Studio expressions in the Library.  Note: this feature is duplicated in OpenGround Professional; changes made in one application will be reflected in the other.

Strip Profiles - Manage conditional Strips on Quick Sections.  This allows the geological strips to appear differently according to, for example, location type.

Charts - Summary style charts and graphs which are not bound to a depth based axis (note: Graphs in Template Studio always assume a depth axis).

Line Style Sets - Manage the lines associated with a parameter to ensure consistent representation across chart outputs.

Symbol Sets - Manage the symbols associated with a parameter to ensure consistent representation across chart outputs.

 

Settings:

Save – Adjust the Quick Save settings.

 

Design

The Design ribbon is grouped into six panels: File, Edit, Clipboard, Format, Padding, Alignment and View.

 

File:

The three buttons on the File panel are to Save, Quick Save or Close the current template.

 

Edit:

Template Setup - Adjust initial settings to reflect paper sizes and orientation.  The margins as well as header, footer and depth related areas to be sized.

Page Borders – Allows for modification of the styling of the outer borders for the template.

Watermark - Primes the current template to display a watermark status.  This article describes a full workflow (note that not all steps are exclusive to Template Studio and the expression can be adjusted as required).

Merge – Toggles the merging of the currently selected cells in the grid.  This is typically done before their object definition (i.e., what data will be displayed) is applied.

Insert – Applies a definition from the library item currently selected on the tree into the current merged cell (this button is unavailable if no library item is selected).  Note that double clicking a library item from the tree has a similar affect.

Reset – Clears the current contents of a merged cell

Depth Columns Manage the placeholder columns for the depth related area.  For example, columns can be added, resized and reordered.

Table Columns Configure and style the selected table (unavailable if no table definition is selected).  For example, columns can be added, resized and reordered.  The data the table displays is also defined here as is formatting.

Graph Configure and style the selected depth related graph (unavailable if no graph definition is selected).  Note that the similarly titled charts are not tied to depth.

Bar Chart Configure and style the selected bar chart (unavailable if no bar chart definition is selected).

Section Options - Settings for section output (unavailable unless the current template is a Quick Section or Civils Section).

Divider Options - Define the line style for the transition depth between templates (for use on Master Templates applied to Dynamic or Combined Logs).

Filter Groups - Collate and manage the report of subsets of data (e.g., test results at the same depth can be listed or averaged).

Strip Options - Determine the conditions under which a strip becomes hidden (unavailable unless the current template is a Strip).

Strip Sets - Collate and manage a collection of strips to provide users with an easily identifiable package of depth related columns (for use with Master Templates; unavailable unless the current template is a Borehole Log.

Move Up - Moves the current depth related item further up the list in the column.

Move Down - Moves the current depth related item further down the list in the column.

Clone - Copy a header or footer area into the first page or follow on page.

 

Clipboard:

CutCopy and Paste tools.  Object definitions which have been Cut or Copied are stored in the clipboard.  Paste applied the object definition currently selected from the clipboard to the current merged cell.  Clear resets the clipboard.
 
Format:

The tools on the Format panel reflect software industry conventions and can be used to adjust the font style, size, colour and position of text in the selected cell (note: some object definitions use similar settings within separate dedicated properties)

 

Padding:

Padding – Adjust the spacing distance of the cell content from the cell borders

 

Alignment:

The tools on the Alignment panel reflect software industry conventions and can be used to adjust the position of the content of the selected cell.

 

View:

Zoom In – Increase the display of the current design panel contents.

Zoom Out – Decrease the display of the current design panel contents.

Zoom 1:1 - Reset the Zoom of the current design panel back to the original 1:1 scale.

 

Help

In this section on the ribbon there are four buttons
