According to the Bentley Systems Support Policy, all applications based on MicroStation V8i will no longer be supported beginning on January 1, 2022. Therefore, support will be discontinued for the 32-bit Bentley Map V8i (SELECTseries) and 32-bit OpenCities Map V8i (SELECTseries) products after December 31, 2021.
The OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition is the 64-bit upgrade to the 32-bit Bentley Map V8i products. The OpenCities software provides a modern solution for interacting, querying, analyzing and sharing engineering and geospatial data.
All products available in the CONNECT Edition series, including OpenCities Map CONNECT editions are standalone products. That is, there are no options to layer the products on MicroStation, each includes its own installation package.
Whether your license is for the Map Standalone or For MicroStation edition, as-stated in the OpenCities Map CONNECT Edition FAQ, How can I upgrade from V8i to CONNECT Edition?
There are two possibilities to upgrade from V8i to the CONNECT Edition:
1. If you own Bentley Map PowerView V8i or Bentley Map V8i or Bentley Map Enterprise V8i:
Then you can upgrade to CONNECT Edition at no cost. The same license will work for both V8i [SES] and CONNECT Edition.
2. If you own MicroStation V8i and Bentley Map for MicroStation V8i you have two choices:
You can decide to exchange your Bentley Map V8i for MicroStation license for an OpenCities Map Advanced CONNECT Edition license. There is no cost for this license exchange however the price of SELECT will increase.
Or, you can decide to exchange both the MicroStation V8i and Bentley Map V8i for MicroStation licenses for one license of OpenCities Map Ultimate CONNECT Edition. There is no cost for this exchange, however the price of SELECT will increase.
Your Custom-code solutions need to be considered in this scenario as-well. Adequate planning and review of the changes required will ensure a smooth transition from V8i to the CONNECT Platform. Your Bentley Account Manager can assist with this.
