End of General Availability for Bentley PowerMap and PowerMap Field

After careful consideration, and in alignment with our current business strategy and support policy, Bentley has made the difficult decision to end general availability for Bentley PowerMap and PowerMap Field beginning at your next renewal. We appreciate that many of you may need to continue using PowerMap and PowerMap Field for in progress work.

However, in accordance with the announcement we made in November 2021 advising of the end of support for all V8i SELECTseries 10 and older software effective January 1, 2022, these products have been in the Discontinued Support lifecycle stage for nearly two years and are now being removed from the Software Downloads Center. You may continue using these products to complete projects at no additional charge, but please note that you will not be able to download and install new instances of these products, nor will you be able to purchase additional licenses moving forward.

Despite the removal of these products, please be assured Bentley continues to invest heavily in the applications and administrative services geared toward your digital advancement and enhanced security with our 2023 products. Therefore, we are excited to offer you the following migration pathways.

For Bentley PowerMap users

We want to assure you that Bentley’s committed to providing you with a smooth transition to a better solution. We strongly encourage you to migrate to OpenCities Map Advanced 2023, which we’ll offer without license exchange fees, at your next renewal.

OpenCities Map Advanced 2023 (formerly Bentley Map, successor to PowerMap) offers enhanced features like:

In addition to the benefits listed above, migrating to OpenCities Map Advanced 2023 will provide you most of the features that were in PowerMap with opportunities for further growth and innovation. You will also receive access to Bentley’s new user help portal in ServiceNow, which will allow you to submit help tickets (known as Cases) directly to your product team for quicker issue resolution. Best of all, many of you who migrate to OpenCities Map Advanced 2023 will see a price decrease on your invoice depending on your region and subscription type.

Finally, should you choose to continue using Bentley PowerMap in the interim to complete ongoing projects, please note that you can do so for free with a node-locked license. However, you will not be able to take advantage of license pooling in this instance.

For Bentley PowerMap Field users

As stated above, we want to ensure you have a smooth transition to a better solution at your next renewal. Therefore, all current PowerMap Field users were already migrated to OpenCities Map PowerView on August 28, 2023, You will see this change reflected on your next renewal statement in addition to any associated price changes.

OpenCities Map PowerView offers enhanced features like:

However, unlike OpenCities Map Advanced 2023, some of the enhanced functionality in OpenCities Map PowerView (i.e., Esri File Geodatabase support, PostgreSQL/PostGIS support, Esri ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Online support, and SQL Server support) is in read-only mode.

In addition to the features and benefits listed above, you will also receive access to Bentley’s new user help portal in ServiceNow, which will allow you to submit help tickets (known as Cases) directly to your product team for quicker issue resolution. You currently don’t have this option while using Bentley PowerMap Field.

However, should you choose to continue using Bentley PowerMap Field to complete ongoing projects, please note that you can do so for free with a node-locked license. You will not be able to take advantage of license pooling if you choose this option.

We want to express our sincere gratitude for your support and loyalty over the years to Bentley PowerMap solutions. We understand that change can be unsettling, but we are confident that OpenCities Map Advanced 2023 and OpenCities Map PowerView will meet and exceed your expectations.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Louis-Martin Losier. We are here to help you with this transition every step of the way.
