How To Direct The BOM To Sort Welds By Type [TN]

Overview

This technote describes how to direct the BOM to sort welds by type.

The Steps 

  1. Launch AutoPLANT Piping and open the desired drawing.
  2. Go to Piping > Setup > Component Update Preferences.


  3. Add LONG_DESCR to Fields to Include.


  4. Go to Piping > Database Tools > Update Components.


  5. Select Advanced for the Selection dialog.
  6. Set Data Type to 3D Drawing Data.
  7. Set Attribute field to SHOP_FLD.
  8. Set the Attribute value to 1 (Shop Weld - see table below for different values).
  9. Select Add under Active Query and hit OK.


  10. Select Component Properties tab and select BUTT_WELD as the value.
  11. Change BUTT-WELD to SHOP Weld.


  12. Perform steps 5-12 adding a description for each type of weld corresponding to the correct SHOP_FLD value. See chart below.
  13. Go to Piping > Reports > Bill of Materials


  14. Set Omit Codes to 110 and select OK.


  15. Select Advanced for the Selection dialog.
  16. Set Data Type to 3D Drawing Data.
  17. Set Attribute field to CLASS.
  18. Set the Attribute value to AT_BUTTWELD.
  19. Select Add under Active Query and h it OK.

The BOM will split the different weld types by description.

  1. - Shop Weld2 - Field Weld
  2. - Field Fit Weld
  3. - Tack Field Weld
  4. - Tack Field Fit Weld
  5. - Offshore Weld
  6. - Offshore Field Tack Weld
  7. - Offshore Field Fit Weld
  8. - AutoMatic Workshop Weld
  9. - Special Site Weld
