Sometimes, a Configuration is needed on the network. This can not be done through Project Administrator, but it can be done using the Bentley Configuration Editor. Follow the steps below to see how to do this.
Load up the Bentley Configuration Editor, which can be found under the Project Tools folder in the Bentley Plant folder. The Icon for this tool looks like this -
Once loaded, the program resembles Project Administrator, but it doesn't list any of the current projects and their roots. It also lacks some of the pull down menus of Project Admin, such as the Tools menu.
The Standard and User Configuration folders can be seen here, just as they are in Project Admin. To add a new location, select either of these locations and then go to File>Add Root. If the Add Root option is grayed out, this could be due to having a configuration selected. This will load up the Browse For Folder dialog. Just locate the folder you wish to add, either on the network or on the local machine. Once the folder is located, select it and hit OK.
This will place the folder into the Configuration Editor's left panel like the image below -
To create a new Configuration in the root, just right click on the root and select New... This will bring up the New Configuration dialog. Just put in the needed information and hit OK to create the new Configuration.
Now there should be a configuration on the network. The root that was added will need to be added to each machine so that it can see the configuration there. Here one can see the Configuration shown in Project Administrator -
The Configurations in this folder can be copied to the User Configurations folder or to a project root, which will create a project using the Configuration as a template.
