Overview

Case I:

This document will outline how to add pre-existing Valve Actuators to the Element Information Dialog. Currently, depending on what project type (Imperial, ISO, etc.) not all actuators appear in the Element Dialog > General Info > Actuator Label section.

Class Editor

Class Editor is a tool that was created to assist the user in modification and customization of the classes and components found in the control files. It can be found at

C:\Program Files\Bentley\PowerPID (SELECTseries 3)\PowerPID\assemblies\ECFramework\ECClassEditor.exe

The Actuator list is located in the supplemental files.

• OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_Imperial.01.01.ecschema.xml
• OpenPlant_PID_Supplemental_ISO.01.01.ecschema.xml

  These files are located in the Workspace folders of a particular project.

1. Open Class Editor and open the Project EcSchema you wish to modify. In this example we will be working with the ISO EcSchema.
2. Search for "ACTUATOR_LIST" class.
3. Right click on Items and select Add Element. In the blank element section that is added at the bottom add the following:
   1. DISPLAY_NAME value = Spring Actuator
   2. CLASS_NAME value = SPRING_ACTUATOR
   Refer to Screenshot below:

• Select File > Save. If you manually edit the EcSchema file you will notice the new section below will be written to the ACTUATORS_LIST section.

• Open OpenPLANT P&ID and now in the Element Information dialog for Control Valves and Pressure Safety Valves the Spring Actuator option will appear in the Actuator Display Label option in the General Info section as shown below:
  

 

 Case II.

In second case it is shown that how to add New Actuator List in OpenPlant PID SS6 Version.

1. Launch Bentley Class Editor.

2. Open OpenPlant_PID.01.07 schema

   
   
   
   

3. Supplement with OpenPlant_PID_Imperial.01.07 schema.

   
   
   
   

4. Navigate to Control Valve List, Add Element, refer below image.

   
   
   
   

5. Enter the new value of Actuator List, refer below image.

   
   
   
   

6. Save all Changes.

   
   
   
   

7. Launch OpenPlant PID & Verify result.
