Problem

 This error can cause services to become disabled in the SMC, and also prevent users logging on to eB.  The message "Unable to communicate with the application server on <server_name>.  Please ensure that the server is accessible from this <computer_name>, that the correct version (eB_version) of the application server is being referenced and that the index service is running.  No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

Solution

 Although the error "The configured identity is incorrect" can cause many issues, the resolution is always the same.  the identity referenced is the identity that is assigned against the COM package.

Maybe password change has taken place, and not updated here, or maybe a COM issue has caused the password to become corrupted?
