What is New?
The Bentley OpenPlant PID V8i (SELECTseries 5) release is the latest release of our newest Intelligent P&ID Solution.  OpenPlant PID is an Open and interoperable P&ID product based on ISO 15926 that allows any application using the open schema to natively share data.
OpenPlant PID is a productive and easy to use application for production of P&IDs allowing users to capture and reuse information in an open format.  It reduces the time required for design and documentation of facilities and captures process information for system design, plant studies and HAZOP studies across the lifecycle of the asset.

  • OpenPlant PID Ss5 R5 08.11.10.631
    • Design History is enabled
    • Instruments inherit associated item values from directly/indirectly connected pipelines.  The order of drawing instrument line is important.
      • Pipe run has instrument: start at parametric instrument; end at pipe run
      • Instrument has input: start at parametric instrument; end at input instrument
    • Ability to drag an actuator to change origin or direction
    • Updated database differencing dialog interface
    • Ability to force user to always use database differencing dialog
    • To-From data populated for pipe run to pipe run connections
    • Ability to change text style in schema and update existing component annotations

    • Database updates:
      • Data differencing dialog is optionally displayed, when synchronizing to/from the database
      • PROJ_STAT field in the database indicates when a tag has been deleted, reused, or renamed
      • ProjectWise: on successful drawing to database synchronization, PW drawing copy is updated
    • OpenPlant Project Administrator:
      • Introducing OpenPlant Project Administrator, a complementary product that allows users to automate the simple configuration and project setup tasks.  OpenPlant Project Administrator allows user to create ProjectWise managed and local / network projects in just a couple of clicks.  Here is a complete feature list:

          • ProjectWise managed project via default template projects
          • ProjectWise managed project via user projects

    • Component right-click Context Menu options have been added for selection of parent, pipeline, instrument loop, and/or assembly
    • Manually placed annotation will use the schema defined Element Template for the property, if it exists
    • Page Connector validation added to ensure matched connector name has not changed
    • Placement of a control valve actuator has changed.  An optional actuator origin prompt, along with rotation prompt, have been added
    • Ability to clear the value of a numeric property
    • Automatic cell conformance tool and mapping editor
    • Ability to place a spec break at the end of a pipe run
    • Ability to drag an angle or 3 way data change component
    • Software updates, technotes, and tips and tricks will be posted via new OpenPlant PID RSS feed
