Problem Description

We print enquiries using a Word template. When trying to create a new document from the template, although the association is created the document itself isn't.
Click Create from Template button

Select Template and click OK

New document association is created, (first entry), but document itself is not being created.

Steps to Resolve

1.        Word must be installed on the Application server. Run the Word on App server and check if there’s some sort of prompt when you open Word.For Microsoft word installed on 2008 r2 server 64 bit server does not create the required directory for system user and due to that winword.exe hangs as runtime. You need to create this directory manually.

2.       The location of the stored templates must be on Application server. Webutil configuration must allow read and write to the directory, where the document template is located. In example below it allows read and write to c:\temp and d:\bentley

 #List transfer.appsrv.read.<n> directories
transfer.appsrv.read.1=c:\temp
transfer.appsrv.read.2=d:\bentley
#List transfer.appsrv.write.<n> directories
transfer.appsrv.write.1=C:\temp
transfer.appsrv.write.2=d:\bentley

After making these changes restart the Oracle HTTP server.

3.        The directory set in WORKFOLDER option ( this option maybe set as product or user option) must exist on user’s PC and a user must have all permissions on it (read and write). This folder is used as a temporary directory when user adds or opens files.
