This article will explain how the fusion weld joint can be configured in OPM. FUSION_WELD class already exist in the schemas but there are no end preparations in the schema therefore we can use this class as per requirement. In this example, the Socket weld joint is taken as an example and Fusion weld is divided into FUSION_WELD_MALE and FUSION_WELD_FEMALE ends.
Joint Definition
Now we will need to define the FUSION_WELD_JOINT on the joint class.
Go to JOINT class.
Right click on Joint Type field in OpenPlant_Physical_JointType_Map and select Add Element option.
Note: Element will be added at the end of this custom attribute therefor you will need to scroll down to bottom to find it.
Right click on End Preparation 1 field and select Add Element. You need to add the preparations as shown below:
Now right click on End Preparation 2 field and select Add Element. You need to add the preparations as shown below:
Set the ‘Is Fastener Spec Driven’ field to FALSE as shown below.
Save the changes in class editor.
You will need to add the entries in the spec with FWM and FWF end conditions.
Open a new model in OPM.
Create a new pipeline and place the components with FW end preparations.
We have added the elbows in the spec with FWF end preparations.
You can check the joints in item browser as shown below.
Create an Iso-sheet and publish i-model.
Check the welds data in OPIM as shown below.
