Problem Description

When installing Descartes user gets an error message to install a higher version of MicroStation or MicroStation Suite product.

Reason

In MicroStation or MicroStation Suite product  the Descartes installer checks for the “DCARTES.MA” file under the “…\Descartes\MDLApps” folder.   When the Descartes installer finds a suitable MicroStation or MicroStation Suite product in the registry, it checks for the “DCARTES.MA” file in the “…\Descartes\MDLApps” folder to see if Descartes has already been installed.  If the Descartes installer finds the “DCARTES.MA” file it will not allow you to install Descartes with that version of MicroStation or MicroStation Suite product. 

Steps to Resolve

The “DCARTES.MA” file must be deleted or renamed before the Descartes installer will allow Descartes to be installed.
