Problem:

Except for accelerations which are different, what is the difference regarding seismic calculation between SLS (Serviceability Limit State) and ULS (Ultimate Limit State)?
Should I input a specific spectrum or a specific vertical acceleration?

Solution:

Suggest that only the factors to generate the spectra are different between SLS and ULS. Therefore, the accelerations are going to be different, however rest of the seismic calcs are same for RSA

RSA=response spectra analysis

The reason the factors are different is because of the risk factors used in generating spectra risk factor is a derivative of return period and % of probable occurrence like 7% PE in 100 years or 10% in 200 years etc. "
