*ARCHIVE*How to create inspections on assets in MapCapture

 Product(s):Exor MapCapture
 Version(s):04.05.02.02
 Environment:N/A
 Area:General
 Subarea:N/A

Background

Standard MapCapture not only allows you to create assets and inspections on network sections but also enables you to create inspections on assets.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Download the shapefile for the asset layer of interest using Bulk Download – MCP0100 form.
  2. Add it into MapCapture together with your network layer shapefile (shapefiles are usually placed in the \MapCapture|Routes folder. Once it is there and MCP is open right-click on Network folder in the left pane then click 'Add Theme Wizard' and select the file). MapCapture should display both – network and asset layers on top of each other.
  3. Choose inspection type of interest and click on any asset on the map to create inspection - it should select (highlight) the asset rather than the network. A pop-up window should appear asking you to specify which asset you would like to select if you have not zoomed to the single asset before.
  4. Choose asset and create an inspection as you would do on a section. Once you export the inspection file – asset data should be visible in the export file.
