~ On-demand Videos - Troubleshooting Access

For our on-demand courses please make sure you update the Adobe Flash Player plug-in (www.adobe.com) and change your security settings in Internet Explorer.

1)       In Internet Explorer, navigate to the Bentley LEARNserver, http://learn.bentley.com and sign in.

2)       In the browser select Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level.

3)       Scroll down to the settings category named "ActiveX controls and plug-ins".

4)       Set the "Allow Scriplets" setting to "Enable".

5)       Set the "Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls" setting to "Enable".

6)       Set the “Binary and script behaviors” setting to “Enable”

7)       Set the "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" setting to "Enable".

8)       Set the "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" to "Enable".

9)       Under the Downloads category, “Automatic prompting for file downloads” and “File downloads” must be enabled.

10)   Click ok to accept the change and then go to the Advanced tab.

11)   Under the Browsing category, “Use Passive FTP” should have the checkmark enabling it.  Click ok to accept the change.

12)   If datasets are not downloading, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the Download button.

13)   Third-party software, such as Norton Internet Security, can also cause interference with the hands-on courses in the LEARNserver.  That software must also be set to allow “script behaviors” to run.

Note:

a. Make sure you are using Internet Explorer. If on Windows 8 or later, you must launch it from the Desktop only (not in the modern UI screen).

b.  If you receive an "API not set" error, please set your browser to “Compatibility View” for the Bentley LEARN Server web site.

For IE10: Navigate to the Bentley LEARN Server first, then Tools->Compatibility View Settings->Add ‘Bentley.com’->Close.
For IE11: You should only need to enable the Compatibility View to view any course in the Bentley LEARNserver.

c. Some company networks might disable the Flash player for security reasons, so you should check that and enable it if it is disabled. You can find this in Settings (the Gear icon) > Manage Add-ons in recent versions of IE. Look for “Adobe Systems, Incorporated” and the “Shockwave Flash Object” and make sure the Status column shows “Enabled”. If it does not appear, you might need to change the list to Show All add-ons (it defaults to Currently Loaded add-ons).

d. Check the streaming media protocols that Windows Media Player is set to receive (in WMP, Tools menu, Options, Network tab).

i.            RTSP/UDP should be disabled.

ii.            RTSP/TCP should be enabled.

iii.            HTTP should be enabled.

If these setting still do not work, try disabling RTSP/TCP. This forces the connection to use HTTP, which might be somewhat slower, but should not be blocked.

To ensure the changes take place, log out of all Bentley websites, open a new window, go to Tools > Internet Options, under section for Browsing History, click on Delete, make sure the below are checked, and then click on Delete, OK.
