What to do if AutoPIPE crashes when importing a file with no indications why?
Perform the following:
1. Open the Log Settings dialog, see wiki here.
2. Set the Log details to Detailed
3. Go to the folder location where the Log files are stored, by pressing the Open Folder button on the Log Setting dialog.
4. Delete all the log files. but first one must close AutoPIPE (otherwise the current log file in use cannot be deleted). Note, leave this window open.
5. Start AutoPIPE and perform a set of steps that cause the application to abruptly close,
6. After the application closes, open / refresh the *.LOG folder again. There should only be a new *.LOG file just created, notice the time stamp.
7. Open the *.LOG file in any text editor.
8. Scroll down the listing of information searching for "<Fatal>", read the line for brief explanation
Example:
Knowing this brief information, open the original model that created the imported file and try to fix the issue.
Example:
The Log file above was generated when trying to import a PCF file. The PCF file tried to add a branch onto a Bend component. At this time, June 2020, AutoPIPE bend component does not support branch connections. Therefore, open the model in the original application (ex. SmartPlant), save the model as a different name, locate all elbow branch connections, and disconnect the branch from the elbow. After successfully importing the file use AutoPIPE help modeling approach "Model 5: Modeling a "dummy leg" as a pipe" to reconnect the branch.
If submitting a Service Request, add most recent log file and other requested files into a Zip file, and send to Bentley for review.
