Problem:

How to filter out small bore piping from being translated into an AutoPIPE model?

Example: Model is composed of 2 different pipe diameters; 4" and 8". How to filter out the 4" pipe so only 8" pipe is imported.

Solution:

Use the PCF translator's filter command  "Ignore OD <"

Question: If 4 inch pipe and smaller is to be filtered out, what pipe size should be be entered on the "Ignore OD <" command line?

4", 4.5", or other?

 Answer: Correct 4.5!!!

Let us see, set "Ignore OD <" = 4.00 inches, what happens?

Why? because the Nominal size is 4" but the PIPE OD was found to be 4.5" inches therefore, the small bore pipe is imported

Now set "Ignore OD <" = 4.5 inches, what happens?

Why? because the Nominal size is 4" and PIPE OD  = 4.5" inches therefore, the small bore pipe was not imported
