Problem:

How to confirm and adjust the SIF of a bend in AutoPIPE?

Solution:

Unlike a Tee where the SIF can be directly entered on the dialog, there is no entry to change the SIF of a selected bend. Suggest the following procedure to adjust the SIF of a bend:

Step #1:

Select the Bend:

Step #2:

Use Joint Type and User SIF command to insert a user SIF value. A new dialog will appear, select the correct weld type or choose "User Define" from the listing and enter the SIF values. In addition, enable the check-box "Override all other SIFs at this point" (see online help to fully understand this setting) :

Step #3:

To verify the settings, select the Tool bar button for Show SIF values, and the indicators will show on the model where user SIF values have been entered.

AutoPIPE CONNECT 11.xx and higher:

AutoPIPE CONNECT 10.x and lower:

Furthermore, review the model input listing report (see WIKI here)

Select Bend sub report and User SIF sub report only.

In the report see the Bend SIF is followed by a U (i.e. 1.44u), see sub script for U =..., pointing the user to look to the User SIF data listing where the joint shows the correct SIF values entered.
