Problem:
The following error appears when trying to install PULS or PlantFLOW:
"Error 1628: Failed to complete installation"
Solution:
Apparently the “error 1628: Failed to complete installation” appears due to three reasons
- Installer is corrupt
- Windows installer has issue
- Install shield has issues.
Here are some suggestions for each of above issue.
1. Installer is corrupt: Please get fresh copy of PlantFLOW and PULS setup to ensure that they are not corrupt.
2. Windows Installer issue: Update windows installer if its version is lower than 4.
a. Click start button or open cmd
b. Write “msiexec.exe” and press Enter
c. Following dialog will appear. Check first line. If version is lower than 4.5 then download & install windows installer 4.5.
3. Install shield issue: Reset Install shield using following steps
a. Open Task Manager
b. Go to Details tab
c. Search for idriver.exe, Right Click on it and press “End Process Tree”
d. Search for msiexec.exe, Right Click on it and press “End Process Tree”
e. Got C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\
f. Search for “InstallShield” folder and rename it to something else e.g “InstallShield_orig”
