Joint Specified Displacement - PERSET

Question

Is there any option where we can apply a prescribed support displacement at a spring support joint? Some support joints in my model are restrained by springs, and I cannot apply perset (deflection) at the joints. How can I solve this problem?

Answer

Yes, users can use the Joint Deflections feature in Precede as shown below:

Support displacement (JOINT PERSET) by definition must have a fixed boundary condition for the analysis to work. (Think F=k*x where the displacement DOF is defined). You cannot have a combination of a spring support and a support displacement because the support DOF must be fixed.

The correct input for this boundary condition is a "Fixed" boundary condition (111111) on the joint line, a support displacement in the translational Z DOF, and spring stiffnesses defined for all other DOF's (DX,DY,RX,RY,RZ).
