Problem

I want to execute the time history earthquake analysis in SACS. Simultaneously, I would like to combine the seismic load with seastate load. What is the procedure?

Solution

SACS development team has prepared a workflow to combine seismic responses with wave responses for SACS V23. 

The basic workflow is:

• Extract Mode Shapes.
• Perform Time History Seismic Analysis and extract force time history. (Seismic analysis must be time history analysis)
• Perform Wave Response Analysis with seismic force time history.
• Run Dynamic Superelement (if exporting responses for integrated wind turbine analyses).

Now, if you want to combine the seismic load with gravity loads, say dead or live load (mostly for the design purposes), then you can output equivalent static loads for time history earthquake analyses. You can use Seastate with those equivalent static loads or Combine on the solution of those equivalent static loads to create load combinations. This would be another analysis step that you perform on the output OCI file or CSF.
