Error “A task was canceled” occurring in ProjectWise Deliverables Management Connector
Problem:
When user is trying to issue a package, save it as a draft, or preview a list of existing Packages, the operation aborted and “A task was canceled” error occurs:

Product(s) and Version(s): ProjectWise Deliverables Management Connector, version 10.07.00.118 or older, installed as an addon for ProjectWise Explorer.
Troubleshooting steps:
- PWDM Connector may not be updated to the latest version or may be incompatible with the installed ProjectWise Explorer version. Try to update it to the latest, compatible version and check if this issue reoccurs.
- User local workstation’s resources may be overloaded – in case of occurrence, end user should:
Check the CPU, RAM and free drive space on the local Computer using Windows Task Manager. A reading of 85-100% usage for a long period of time would be an indicator that the system resources are overconsumed. If they are, try to close other programs, reduce opened cards in web browsers, restart the machine.
- This error may appear when the Internet connection bandwidth is insufficient to load the Packages information, to display it on the local computer in a timely manner. Try to avoid uploading/downloading bigger packages of data, simultaneously, with the Package load in PWDM Connector.
- This may also be caused by the low speed of the local network – if DM Connector cannot load the information on time, an exception may be thrown. Check the speed of internet connection.
- If this error occurs in higher number of users, if not on global level, try to archive the oldest Packages (as many as possible), and restart the Service.
- If any of the above steps will not resolve this issue, please log a new Service Case to ProjectWise Support.
Workaround:
- In PWDM Connector, you can view the Packages on the list without exceptions if you change the filter to “All” and revert to “All + archived items”.
- Try to issue a Package or load a list through 365 Projects Portal, Deliverables Management section. If users do not use such an option, they can open Deliverables Management Portal in browser directly from DM Connector:
