I want to extract the joint load data for joints that are not the support of my model. How can I obtain this information?

Solution

You need to use the Freebody option by selecting the SACS Utility module.

Let us walk through the procedure by referring SACS Utility manual Section 1.3 Sample Problem.

Step 1: Create the SACS model file with proper input. Run the file and generate the common solution file from it.

Step 2: Create the Free Body Input file. Using the JNTSL command, you can select the desired joints of which the internal forces are required. Using the CONN command, you can select the desired connecting members attached to the already selected joint. By selecting the member coordinate system, you can have the results along the desired vector directions.

Step 3: Create the analysis generator as Type-Utilities > Subtype-Free body. You need to call the common solution file which was created at step 1.

Step 4: Check the results in the output listing file created after the run in Step 3.
