Community Question:
why when I use the command MEMSCF and GRPSCF in fatigue to exclude the connection of a specific member other connections of the member related to this one are modified too?
Answer:
Original Results
Using MEMSCF and excluding the member 401L-3C1K
As can you see the result of member 401L-3C1K was removed from the analysis, but why was the result for member 405L-3C1K and 0485-3C1K modified?
The answer is easy and is related to the calculation of the SCF, Remember that SCF calculation depends on the classification of the joint, In the moment to exclude the member 401L-3C1K we are removing it from the analysis and model, so, if the connection originally had been classified as connection type K, now this was classified as Y and this change the SCF for all other member related with this connection, so is important to clarify that this isn't a bug
Using GRPSCF and excluding the group of the element (D02)
Why did the result change too much?
As can you see, using this card the life increase and the result are different compared with the original result, This is a result of the excluding of all members in group D02, so in this case all members connected at the joint 3C1K were excluded making that the classification will change, and in the absence of "Brace" members the life increase
