Problem:

The following appears when installing AutoPIPE 09.06.01.11 ATS atop of an existing ATS:

How to avoid ?

Solution:

The Bentley CAE Development team had never considered installing an older version of the ATS side by side with the newer version of the ATS a valid scenario. It was expect that the user to have a clean install of the latest ATS version over the corresponding AutoPIPE version.

Therefore, at this time, Yes it is correct given the following scenario: installing an older version of the ATS and AutoPIPE SS5 ATS, cannot be install side-by-side. From the program / installation side, the installer did support side by side installation of ATS (up to SS4 and older versions).

Avoidance

Uninstall AutoPIPE SSS4 ATS and then install AutoPIPE SS5 ATS.

Workaround (to use AutoPIPE SS4 ATS in parallel with AutoPIPE SS5 ATS)

Workaround in case user still wants to keep their old AutoPIPE SS4 ATS is to keep a backup of installation before uninstalling SS4 ATS and then use that backup to run the older ATS. Not sure how useful that may be – but user may have any use-cases.

1. Backup AutoPIPE SS4 Acceptance Test Set installation directory to a new directory (default installation path is C:\Bentley\AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries4\ATS )

2. Uninstall AutoPIPE SS4 Acceptance Test Set

3. Install AutoPIPE SS5 Acceptance Test Set

4. Restore AutoPIPE SS4 Acceptance Test back to original directory (optional - you can keep using from the new folder)

5. Add shortcut for AutoPIPE SS4 Acceptance Set (apats32.exe) to use it
