Effective April 1, 2023, important changes will be made to the way Maxsurf and Multiframe are licensed. An overview of these changes is provided below.
What is Changing?
Significant changes have been made to the way Maxsurf and Multiframe are licensed. Since Maxsurf and Multiframe 2023 were released, there is only one license level available for each of these products (rather than the two levels that were previously available for these products). Beginning with Maxsurf and Multiframe 2023, you will no longer have the option of selecting which license should be used to run the product because there is now only one option available.
Background
Prior to the release of Maxsurf and Multiframe 2023, two levels of each product were available. Some additional functionality was available in the higher-tiered versions. However, this has sometimes caused confusion for users and Bentley sales colleagues as well as unexpected overuse charges caused by users inadvertently selecting the wrong license when starting the applications. The multiple tiers also added to the development and other overhead costs needed to develop and deliver the MAXSURF and Multiframe products. For these reasons, the decision has been made to make all functionality available in a single tier of each product.
Maxsurf and Multiframe products had previously fallen under the Bentley MAXSURF brand. Beginning with the release of Maxsurf and Multiframe 2023, these products will be integrated into the Bentley MOSES brand. The MAXSURF brand is now officially retired.
Multiframe
Beginning with Multiframe 2023, only one tier will be available. Although this retains the Multiframe Advanced product ID 2144, it will now be called Multiframe 2023 and be under Bentley’s MOSES brand. The new Multiframe will contain all the functionality previously available in Multiframe Advanced. Users of Multiframe will see a price increase due to this consolidation. Accounts impacted by this price increase will be notified separately once 2023 pricing has been finalized with Bentley’s Commercial Programs team.
Maxsurf
Beginning with Maxsurf 2023, only one tier will be available. Although this product retains the MAXSURF Ultimate product ID 2143, it will now be called Maxsurf 2023 and be under the MOSES brand while containing all the functionality previously found in MAXSURF Ultimate. Users of Maxsurf will see a price increase due to this consolidation. Accounts impacted by this price increase will be notified separately once 2023 pricing has been finalized with Bentley’s Commercial Programs team.
Can I still run previous versions of the program?
Yes, you can still use older versions of the software. In this case the functionality available will depend on the license that was selected when you launched the application. (The 2023 versions of Maxsurf and Multiframe do not have the license selection dialog and all functionality is always available.)
Your licenses will have been automatically upgraded to the equivalent of MAXSURF Ultimate and Multiframe Advanced so you can select these license options when you launch the software.
What is the value of this license consolidation for me?
If you had the lower-tier version of these products, you would gain the full functionality of the software for an approximate 6% (Maxsurf) or 12% (Multiframe) increase in cost. If you had the highest-tier versions, you would see a considerable reduction in cost.
