How To set up installation instrument drawing types

Explanation

Initially this will require you to do a bit of setting up but following this you should be able to show any instrument type exactly how you wish to with multiple symbols in the same installation.

Process

First of all, open the application as the Administrator and go to System>Configuration Packs>select your pack and then select "Manage Picklists".

Once the window opens scroll down the list for "MonitoringInstallationsAndInstruments - InstrumentType" and then select "Edit".

In the window that opens there will be a list of instrument types, this is the default list. If you can't find the instrument type your after please add it to the list using the "click here to add new item" option.

Browse the list for the instrument type you wish to setup and then scroll to the right to see the drawing options.

You should now see whats in the above screenshot.

The "Point Symbol" is the symbol that shows in line with the distance value. So for example,if you want to show a Piezometer at the distance depth set this to be "Piezometer".

The "Top Symbol" will show what ever symbol is selected and place it just above the distance depth.

The "Base Symbol" will show what ever symbol is selected and place it just below the distance depth.

NOTE: Each Instrument Type should only have 1 symbol assigned to it. You can assign a Top, base symbol as well as a point symbol but all 3 will be on top of each other but with a slight offset to top and base in the installation.

The Connector Symbol is how the installation looks going from 0.00 to the distance depth. So for example if its a Piezometer use connector 3. This will give the piezo pipe down the centre of the installation. If done right your installation should look like the example below;

With these extra customisation options this does mean that you can now show multiple symbols in the same installation. For example if you take Electronic Piezometer reading at multiple points down the installation, you create a single record for each in the "monitoring Installations and Instruments" table as shown below;

When you then look at the quicklog and preview the installation you will see all 3 symbols at the distance suggested as seen below;
