AutoPIPE Known issue - Defect 939787

Applies To
 Product:AutoPIPE
First Affected Version:11.00.00
 Found in Version:11.04.00.10
Fixed and Released in Version:12.00.00
 Area: All
 Severity: High
 Backlog Issue Number:939787

Behavior

• Severity: 2 - high
• First Affected Build: 11.00.00
• Affected Product: AutoPIPE
• Affected Versions: Standard, Advance, Nuclear
• Program Affected: Yes
• Program Help Affected: No
• Documentation Affected: No

Problem Description

B31.4 and B31.8 material libraries are not updated in latest editions as per updates in source libraries. Program picks standard material data from B31.3/B31.1 for B31.4 and B31.8. Code material data is picked from ASME IID.

For instance, program help page for both B31.4 and B31.8 mentions that temperature dependent data is created primarily using B31.3 [Help page B314-12.LIB Standard Materials "\apx.chm::/ap5v4_a/B314-12.LIB_Standard_Materials.htm"].

Steps to Repeat

Following steps can be considered in order to observe this issue in thermal expansion:

1. Scan material libraries (Tools > Libraries > Table Type: Material) for libraries B313-12 and B313-16.

2. Scan material libraries (Tools > Libraries > Table Type: Material) for libraries B314-12 and B314-16.

3. Compare libraries B313-12 and B313-16.

Notice the changes in "thermal expansion" for different materials. For example, thermal expansion of CN (Copper-Nickel) at temperature -198.3 degC changed from -2.625 to -2.667.

4. Compare libraries B314-12 and B314-16.

No change observed in both libraries. For example, thermal expansion of CN (Copper-Nickel) at temperature -198. degC is -2.625 in both editions.

Note: Same issue can be observed in B31.8 libraries. All scanned libraries are attached in Libs.zip folder.

Workaround

Corresponding material library from B31.1 or B31.3 can be used for latest editions while using B31.4 and B31.8 piping codes.

Solution

B31.4 and B31.8 material libraries shall be updated in latest editions as per corresponding updates in their source libraries (B31.1/B31.3 and ASME II-D).
