Problem:

In AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.xx.xx and higher, how to enable the "HDPE Material" option on the Pipe Properties dialog when using ASME B31.1 - 2012, with "Include ASME CC N-755-1 (HDPE)" option checked ON.

Solution:

From AutoPIPE help>

The HDPE (High-density polyethylene) piping can be used, in accordance with Code Case N-755-1, of the ASME Code Cases for Nuclear Components for class 3 underground piping. This piping code is used alongside either B31.1 or ASME NC/ND, 2004 editions and later.

First be sure that on Tools> Model Options> General> that the option is actually checked as shown above. Then the ONLY method to select HDPE material is by adding a new pipe property to the model, an existing pipe property ID cannot be updated to use HDPE materials. When using Insert> Pipe Property> command the  following dialog will appear:

Enable the HDPE Material check-box. After enabling this option a warning screen will appear:

---------------------------
Confirm
---------------------------
Pipe identifiers cannot be changed back to metallic
piping after enabling the HDPE Material option.
Do you want to set this pipe as HDPE pipe?
---------------------------
Yes No Cancel
---------------------------

Select the Yes button, continue to fill out the dialog screen as required where the user is now able to select "NS" or "PE4710" from the Pipe Material drop down list.

Note:

Once more, in order to enable the "HDPE Material" on the Pipe Properties dialog screen, "Include ASME CC N-755-1 (HDPE)" option on the General Model dialog must be enabled (see AutoPIPE help for when "Include ASME CC N-755-1 (HDPE)" option is available, for which piping codes and years).

However, users can still model non-metal materials in AutoPIPE for any piping code and year, see options below:
