Problem
MicroStation Crashes when attaching ECW in Win7 x64
V8 2004 is not certified to run under Win 7 x64 OS but several users
reported it working well. In some configurations Microstation crashes
when attaching an ECW rasters. The attaching operation takes a very long
time and eventually results in a crash.
Solution
One of these workarounds could allow Microstation to work under this OS,
even if the configuration is not certified.
1. Download and install Windows XP mode for Windows 7. This is currently
available for Windows 7 Prof and Ultimate, so please check which edition
the user is running before advising to install it.
2. Use GeoTiff instead of ECW if possible. This has been tested
successfully in configurations where the ECW caused the crash.
