Overview

If you are using any of the following combinations:

• MicroStation V8 XM Edition or MicroStation V8i (or similar releases of MicroStation PowerDraft, Bentley Redline, Bentley View, or Bentley Navigator)
  
  and
• Windows XP or Windows 2000
  
  and
• IntelliPoint v6.0/v6.1/v6.2 mouse drivers

We are aware of two issues where any of the Bentley products identified above either perform poorly or dialogs do not display properly (i.e. portions of dialogs disappear.) Both of these issues are related to the Instant Viewer feature (now named 3D Flip) in IntelliPoint v6.0/v6.1/v6.2 mouse drivers. The display issue occurs when MicroStation processes the request from IntelliPoint to generate an off-screen image of the MicroStation views - for some reason, DirectX also copies the image to the screen.

The v6.x IntelliPoint drivers (prior to v6.3) collect the information for the Instant Viewer regardless of whether the Instant Viewer option is configured via mouse button or mouse wheel. The v6.3 driver does not collect the Instant Viewer information unless there is a button configured to invoke Instant Viewer. Therefore, you should be able to use a v6.3 driver after disabling the Instant Viewer/3D Flip support.

So, if you are using an IntelliPoint mouse, you need to use a driver other than v6.0/v6.1/v6.2. To obtain the current IntelliPoint driver for your system, please visit Microsoft's Mouse and Keyboard Software download page.

Note that for Windows Vista, the issue can occur if you are not using Aero and the window borders are opaque.
