What reference was used to set the default values Seismic Wave Data dialog in AutoPIPE?
example:
Wave length of seismic wave = 100 in
Seismic wave velocity at pipeline = 42000 in/sec (3,500 fps)
Sometimes when there is no clear code reference to help determine a default value, the developer arbitrary sets it. In this case, "Wave length of seismic wave" was arbitrarily set to 100 in by the CAE development team when this feature was added to the program.
However, where the code clearly suggests a default value, it is used as a suggestion. In this case, a value of 42,000 in/sec (3,500 fps) as a default value for "Seismic wave velocity at pipeline" is assumed from example input in section 6.3 of ASCE 1984.
