Cannot select a specific item from drop down listing when importing a PCF file into AutoPIPE, why?
The PCF translator drop down listings are limited to default libraries and does not show customized libraries. Suggest to import the file while selecting a default option from the drop down listing and then making adjustments to specific settings once the model has been completely imported into AutoPIPE.
It takes only a few seconds to update a model with a specific Component, Material, or Units library setting on the General Model Options dialog. And, a few more moments to update pipe properties with the correct material settings.
Note, some drop down listings are filtered on purpose based upon Piping code and Edition year selections. This is to prevent users from mistakenly mixing codes, with library files that are not formatted with all the information required by said selections. If users mixes non-compatible files (ex. ASME B31.3 2016 with Material = SNIP97) the software will not flag any warnings and allow the import process to continue. Any output results may be incorrectly calculated from library data used. Again, it is vitally important that users do not mix non-compatible piping codes to library files when importing or making selections on the General Model options dialog in AutoPIPE.
However, the drop down listing can be updated to accommodate customized file names, but this is a very specific process and small mistakes can have harmful affects on results if not done properly. Please submit a Bentley Service Request mentioning this WIKI asking for our documented procedure.
