Q. Flange Analysis Trouble shooting tips and tricks in AutoPIPE

When performing a flange analysis start by selecting the left tab, left column, top row cell, and update data as needed, move to next column on the right, again updating information as need. Proceed like this one column at a time to the right until the last column is completed. Go to next row down and repeat the same steps. Once all the data has been entered on this tab, confirm analysis method used, IF using ANSI check, select ANSI check tab, otherwise select the next tab to the right. On the next tab, repeat steps above for each row. Again, once all the data on the tab has been entered, repeat steps above as required by the analysis method selected. This procedure will ensure that all required flange data has been entered.

There are some features most people overlook, there is an option to “Highlight incomplete flanges”

What this does is that it highlights all flanges in red that have some missing data.

Selecting any of these flange in the data row – highlights the tabs on the grid on which data is required.

For A09F – Load, Flange, Pipe, Bolts and Gaskets – all tabs need to be reviewed.

Whereas for B03 F – loads are ok. But rest of the tabs need review.

Now what is even more useful is that if you now go to any of these tabs – it does tell you which data is missing by highlighting it in appropriate color used for the tab. Say we go to flange tab for B03 F – and this is what we see. You can clearly see the fields boxed in green – are missing data.

Similarly for pipe tab – the data is boxed in yellow.

Note:

1. Most of these fields of data are automatically fixed by resetting the selected Material and / or other settings on the respective tabs (change original value to a different setting and then back).

2. Issues related to Allow. Stress, user should confirm the model Ambient temp is with in the material's dependent properties, as shown below:
