The following appears when reviewing an Flange Analysis Output report
***
*** WARNING -- ( during FLANGE BOLT DESIGN )
***
The Bolt spacing correction factor is greater than 1 because:
The calculated Bolt Spacing Bs = 86.446 mm exceeds
2*Bolt Diameter + Thickness = 84.074 mm
why and how to avoid it?
This would be an warning to the use to help them understand why the Bsc (Bolt Spacing Correction Factor) was higher than 1.00:
As indicated in the report, the factor directly influences all the calculated moments that make up MO (total Operating Moment).
User to choose one of the following suggestions:
1. Again this is only a warning to help understand the values being calculated. Do nothing and accept the warning for what it is, knowledge.
2. . Choose to ignore the bolt correction factor by unchecking that feature on the Analysis tab (imaged below).
In this case, by disregarding the Bsc factor, total moments dropped from 1232 Nm to 811 Nm.
3. Manually change some of the values that are used in the equation that was then compare with Bsc (ex. Thickness and / or Bolt Diameter).
