Problem:

Wherever the axial forces are -ve in nature, its considering those forces in ANSI Check Flange analysis method calculation , but where the forces are +ve ,they are considered as "0" in the calculation.

Why?

Solution:

According to requirements of ASME B31.7, and later ASME BPVC Section III, the determination of the axial force, F, is only considered in tension. In other words, if the axial force is greater than 0, it is ignored. If the axial force is less than zero, it is considered in tension and the absolute magnitude of the force is used to determine the equivalent pressure. AutoPIPE is compliant with this procedure and no changes are necessary.
