SYNCHRO Perform / Bentley IMS Transition

SYNCHRO Perform is being integrated into the rest of the Bentley product suite for a variety of reasons including access to other products, new features, security as well as the SYNCHRO Suite. To get access to this, users will need to create and register a separate Bentley IMS account which will enable Single Sign On (SSO) access to SYNCHRO Field, Control, Cost and 4D if the subscription allows it. In this guide, you will create a Bentley IMS Account in addition to your existing SYNCHRO Perform Account. Once the Bentley IMS Account is setup this will need to be linked with your existing SYNCHRO Perform account.

Note: This guide is intended for end users when an Administrator has directed them to link IMS. It is important to note that your SYNCHRO Perform Account is not the same as your Bentley IMS Account. Over the coming weeks, this will be MANDATORY for all users and if you do not action your account will be LOCKED OUT.  This deactivation will prevent you from accessing SYNCHRO Perform, but it may also occur due to the fact that you have not logged in within the 45 day period to maintain account validity. Please contact your project Admin if you have any questions regarding re-activation.

Bentley IMS and Linking it with SYNCHRO Perform

The benefits of IMS login include:

•  A single password to manage all Bentley products including enhanced security

•  Federation for organizations

•  Simplified experience when working across Bentley products

Step 1 - Set up a Bentley IMS Account (skip this if you already have one)

• Go to: https://ims.bentley.com/ click on 'Register Now'. (If this link/URL doesn't work, please copy and paste the URL directly into your browser)

• Click the blue “Register now” link underneath the Next button. Do not fill out the email field or click Next.

• Users will have essentially 2 accounts (SYNCHRO Perform and a separate Bentley IMS Account), however once linked it will be the new Bentley IMS account only.

Step 2 - Go to your SYNCHRO Perform User Profile

• Go to your SYNCHRO Perform Project URL. This will be similar to https://companyname.e7.site

• In the top right corner, select the drop down beside your avatar and click on My Profile

 Step 3 - Link to your Bentley IMS account

• Under Change Details click on the blue Link Your Bentley Systems Account button

• You will be redirected to a page to confirm your name and email

That's it! 

Next time you go to your project and login, you will now select the green Sign in with Bentley Systems button which will prompt you to login with IMS.

• Passwords CANNOT be reset using the SYNCHRO Perform main page once Bentley IMS is linked. Please use the Reset / Forgot Password link via https://ims.bentley.com
• For users with Federated Accounts (SSO enabled) mandatory linking of accounts may not be required right now, but will be in the future.
• If you do not receive a verification code when setting up a Bentley/IMS account, you may require your Bentley Account Administrator (within your Account) to manually approve or manually add you to IMS. Please get in touch with your project administrator or ICT team, so they can manually add your account. Another reason is that your ICT have blocked emails from Bentley. • As a Bentley Account Administrator, you will be able to manage users via the Bentley User Management Portal - https://usermanagement.bentley.com/
• If you are blocked from accessing your project in SYNCHRO Perform (similar to the screenshot below), you have reached the end of your 15 day grace period, and you will be required to complete this link before you can access your project.
• Invited Users need to accept and setup their SYNCHRO Perform accounts first before they can link their Bentley IMS account.
• Administrators in SYNCHRO Perform are not the same as a Bentley Administrator. Please ensure you have created your account properly and linked it to your existing SYNCHRO Perform account, so you can submit support tickets via the Support Portal
