Event Categories and Types


Event Classification Hierarchy

Event Types and Categories are optional attributes to classify Events into groups for reporting and filtering purposes. Typical examples of Event Categories are Commercial, Environmental, Safety, etc. and

Event Types are Safety – First Aid, Safety – Lost Time, etc.

Event Categories - Create and Update 

Event Categories are configured during the initial setup of a project, and can be modified or edited at any time.

Event Categories are used to filter and group data, and for reporting.

  1. Select Settings > Project > Event Categories.
  2. Select Add Event Category.
  3. Enter the Event Category Name and select Create Event Category or select Create and Add Another to create additional Event Categories.
  4. To edit a Event Category, click on the   icon to the right of any existing Event Category.
  5. Edit the required properties and select Update Event Category.
  6. To delete an Event Category, click on the   icon​.
    If an Event Category has a grey icon  , there are existing Event Types associated with the Event  Category and it cannot be deleted.

Event Types - Create and Update

  1. Select Settings > Project > Event Types.
  2. Select Add Event Type.
  3. Enter the Event Type Name and any other required property fields.
  4. Select Create Event Type or select Create and Add Another to create additional Event Types.
  5. To edit an Event Type, click on the   icon to the right of any existing Event Type.
  6. Edit the required properties and select Update Event Type.
  7. To delete an Event Type, click on the   icon​
    If an Event Type has a grey icon  , there are existing Events associated with the Event Type and it cannot be deleted.
