Problem:

When a user launch AutoPIPE then there's a pop-up with the option to select relevant version (Demo / Standard / Enterprise). Where does this information resides in windows registry / configuration file so, that selection can be automated instead of user manually selecting

Solution:

The admin may either want to take away the confusion of choosing the right edition by setting it automatically or they may be using the program in a batch mode to batch process models through command line and the welcome dialog pops up and cannot be run un-attended.

The setting for program edition and the choice on whether to show welcome dialog or not, are stored in a configuration file in user's roaming profile directory.

Folder: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\AutoPIPE CONNECT
File: AUTOPLAN.CNF

There are 3 options:

Option 1

Note, with Subscription Entitlement Service the admin can restrict access to specific license options which may the better option than the following options 2 or 3.

Option 2

Use AutoPIPE user interface i.e. Welcome dialog to configure the Edition and the selection on whether to launch the welcome dialog. Press OK to close and save these current settings to the AUTOPLAN.CNF file. Now copy the AUTOPLAN.CNF file and distribute / deploy this it to other user's profile folder. This is perhaps the easiest method and safe as well since the user doesn't have to tamper with file by hand and no risk of breaking anything.

Option 3

Locate the AutoPLAN.CNF file and edit it in a text editor. Care must be taken to avoid accidentally removing any content or introduce accidental spaces or characters to violate the file format. See the following image that  marked the 2 variables (Default Edition & Show Edition) that will need to be updated accordingly:
