Problem:

When entering a Length value on the Points tab it automatically reverts to another value, why?

Example:  enter 300 mm automatically changes to 300.04 mm

Solution:

AutoPIPE is able to store values to 32 bit precision, because of that the program is limited to the number of significant digits for any one value. It is important to know this when locating the Origin point to start modeling in AutoPIPE's 3D space.

This type of round off issues mentioned above occurs when the coordinate values on the Point tab of the input grids reaches 10 digits or higher (includes decimal point). Typical this is not a problem for model using English units, but is more frequent of a model using Metric units. It does not take long to have a very large value when using millimeters for coordinate units.

Avoidance:

Select the entire model and move it closer to the Model's 0,0,0 global location. This can be easily accomplished for models that are all connected as 1 group: See Select Connected Segments:

Move to the first segment origin point  (ex. A00)

Change all three values of the Origin point's Global X, Y, and Z to 0.00.

Doing this rendered the models largest coordinate values from 10 place holders down to 8 place holders:

From:

Global Dx = 4966392.00 to 4975607.00

Global Dy = 9307656.00 to 9307656.00

Global Dz = 30000.00 to 37960.00

To:

Global Dx = 6634.16 to -2581.27

Global Dy = 0.00 to -39486.68

Global Dz = 6010.00 to-1950.00

If a mode contains more than one group of segments, Highlight the entire mode and move it closer or centered around the Global X, Y, Z = 0,0,0

If the model is already centered around the 0,0,0 global axis, and the coordinate values are still very large, either accept the round of issue or split the model into multiple smaller models.
