Bentley PULS XM Edition is a stand-alone, Microsoft Windows engineering application used for the calculation of pressure pulsation, acoustic shaking forces and acoustic frequencies in piping systems. It can also be used for reciprocating compressor vessel sizing as per API 618 guidelines. PULS is an object-based graphical interface that provides fast model creation through the use of cut, copy and paste features that reduce repetitive input by the user. Pulsations and shaking forces can be instantly viewed by simply clicking directly on the model, eliminating the need to review voluminous batch output reports, typical of older methodology.
What is New & Changed
The following outline identifies new features and enhancements in the PULS V8i v.08.09.00.28
Fixed:
- 7083: Branch length < pipe radius causes negative pipe length and pressure drop
- 7095: Program crashes if number of RC conditions > 20
- 7112: Program crashes if more than one HE and one CE per cylinder
- 7114: Program crashes if cylinder numbers are entered in a certain order for NCYL > 3
Enhancements:
- 7115: Make rated rpm default for rpm plots
- 7119: Increase tolerance for shaking force unbalanced area to reduce warnings
- 7121: Increase number of decimals in shaking force violation table in OUT file

You must have a CD drive or Internet access for product installation. The following prerequisites are required for each of the modules included within the application:

Log a Bentley Service request asking for this update or download files from WIKI here.
Installation:
- First install PULS 08.09.00.28
- Unzip files to C:\Bentley\Puls XM\ folder on top of program version 08.09.00.28
Network Considerations
Network drives are not supported for the software and data files.
PULS software must be installed on a local client workstation.
PULS data files (*.FDA) must have full read/write access and can only be accessed from a local client workstation.
