Problem:

the following message appears when uninstalling AutoPIPE:

---------------------------
Bentley AutoPIPE Connect Update 1 setup
---------------------------
Error 1001. An exception occurred while uninstalling. This exception will be ignored and the uninstall will continue. However the application might not be fully uninstalled after the uninstall is complete. --> Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --> Object reference not set to an instance of an object
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Why and How to avoid it?

Solution:

Apparently, it seems that there are some problems with windows registry on that computer caused by unknown reasons. Here is link to a tool provided by Microsoft for this type of issue.

If this does not work please perform the following:

1. Is this issue repeatable on user machine? yes or no

2. Is it occurring only for AutoPIPE or some other applications as well?

3. Collect the log files from temporary folder.

a. Open Window Explorer> enter %temp% or go to folder location "C:\ Users\ user\ AppData\ Local\ Temp"

b. Search for Names of log files that start with “AutoPIPE_SETUP” (imaged above).

c. Zip all log files into a single Zip file.

d. File a Bentley Service Request and send ZIP file for review.
