What values of Rp can be input when using static seismic ASCE-7 2010 code in AutoPIPE?
When using ASCE 7, the amplification factor (ap) and component response modification factor (Rp) are taken from Table 13.6-1. These values are determined by the piping code selected in AutoPIPE. For ASME B31 models, valid values are 12.0 and 6.0. While for non-ASME B31 models, valid values are 9.0 and 4.5. Therefore, a drop down is provided to limit the user to select only valid values.
At this point, there is no option to input a user defined value for the amplification factor (ap) or component response modification factor (Rp). Only option would be to select a different seismic code (example, User) where one is able to manually enter the vertical factor and corresponding axial gravity factors.
