How to model installing piping at process temperature?
Example:
Two steam lines that run next to each other and installing a crossover between the two. However, steam service cannot be interrupted which means one line must stay in service. Pipe lines need to stay hot while the valves on the other steam line are installed. Since both of these lines are not connect at the same temperature, one pipe will be in an expanded state while the other will not. Therefore if I change the thermal loading on the piping system, I need the results to reflect that the piping started off already thermally stress in one line and not in the other. (For example, if both pipes were to cool, a stress would be induced on the crossover due to the hot line shrinking.)
Suggest using AutoPIPE feature, "Cut Long" if pipe is intentionally cut longer than anticipated length under ambient conditions. Conversely, use "Cut Short" if installed piping is cut shorter than operating conditions.
Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:

Recommend actually reproducing this modeling approach to fully understand how this feature is implemented.
