Problem:

How are the Stress Indices columns Z, ZBr, Zr, Zb calculated in AutoPIPE's output report?

Solution:

Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:
Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Reference Information> Code Compliance Calculations> NC

Notes:

A. Per NC-3653.3(b), stresses at tee nodes are required to follow tee summation definitions found in NB-3683.1(d) for editions 1983 to 2001, inclusive.

B. When calculating Zb or Zr, corrosion will be subtracted from the wall thickness if the "Use nominal thickness" option is unchecked in the Result Model Options dialog and the corrosion allowance is specified in the Pipe Properties dialog.

From ASME NB code find:

Based on known values, calculate all 4 of the Section Modulus values listed in the Stress Indices of the output report shown above :

Example:

Note: at this time, Section modulus will always be reported in cubic inches regardless of model unit settings. A new enhancement has been logged, 7000704219, to report values based on model units selected.
