Has or does auto pipe plan to incorporate beam stresses caused by attached supported piping? This is continuing to be a common question from structural engineers which is falling out of the scope of a piping analysis. However, if this is in the plans this could be a very powerful tool in lieu of providing clients with support loads or displacements which always causes grief. If so, do we need to acquire a license for STAAD?
Answer:
AutoPIPE is a Pipe stress analysis software application where STAAD is the structural engineering professional’s choice for steel, concrete, timber, aluminum, and cold-formed steel design of virtually any structure program. There is a link between these two applications, but neither application will ever perform the other's core functionality. Another words, AutoPIPE will not perform any beam stress analysis as STAAD will not perform any piping stress analysis.
