Problem:

When using AutoPIPE the following appears:

forrtl: severe (9); permission to access file denied, unit 10, file C:\Program Files\Bentley\AutoPIPE\AutoPIPE.DBG...

How to resolve it?

Solution:

There are only 3 reasons for a user to get this error, Fortran runtime error (9).

1. Trying to access a model over a network connection and the connection timed out before the tasks was completed.

2. The user does not have local admin right to the system running AutoPIPE. AutoPIPE needs to be able to save files to multiple locations, thus a restricted user would not have permission and incur this error.

3. The model location is not valid and/or set to read-only.

Using AutoPIPE CONNECT

Only a one reported issue of this error appearing while using AutoPIPE CONNECT 11.1, If this error occurs to you, please stop, add all the files in the folder where the model was stored to a ZIP file, create an Bentley Service Request, and send files with add details of steps to repeat / procedure performed before this error occurred for review.

Using AutoPIPE 9.2.0.11

AutoPIPE's new ability to save/open/work with a model on a network requires a host of behind the scenes processes and new files. This version was found to have some communication issues on some networks. This was quickly fixed by the next release, AutoPIPE V8i 9.2.1.7 and higher.

Using AutoPIPE 6.3:

AutoPIPE must have at least full read/write privileges to the program and all working directories to function. Remember that this version cannot access models over a network connection. Models must be located on the host computer before being opened. After the work is completed, models can by copied / moved back to a network location.

Avoidance:

Option #1: Update to the latest version of the software (AutoPIPE CONNECT 10.xx or higher) where these type of security concerns have been addressed with user profiles

Option #2: Give the user logged onto the compute full Administrative User Rights.
